Bedsores
Learn about symptoms, modern diagnostic methods, and advanced treatment protocols available in China's top medical centers.
Understanding Bedsores
Bedsores, also known as pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers, are injuries to the skin and underlying tissue caused by prolonged pressure on the skin. They commonly occur in people who are bedridden, use a wheelchair, or are unable to change positions. In our partner clinics in Beijing and Shanghai, we use a multidisciplinary approach involving dermatologists, wound care specialists, and physical therapists to prevent and treat these challenging wounds.
Advanced Diagnostics in China
Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment. Our hospitals offer:
- Wound Assessment: Detailed examination of ulcer depth and extent.
- Tissue Viability Assessment: Evaluating tissue health and healing potential.
- Infection Testing: Cultures to identify bacterial pathogens.
- Imaging Studies: X-rays to check for underlying bone involvement.
Treatment Options
Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may involve wound care, pressure relief, specialized dressings, or an integrative approach combining Western medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to promote healing and prevent infection.
- Pressure Relief: Regular repositioning and specialized support surfaces.
- Wound Care: Debridement and appropriate dressing selection.
- Nutritional Support: Adequate protein and vitamin intake.
- Integrative TCM: Herbal formulas to promote tissue regeneration.
