Enuresis in Children
Learn about symptoms, modern diagnostic methods, and advanced treatment protocols available in China's top medical centers.
Understanding Enuresis in Children
Enuresis, commonly known as bedwetting, refers to involuntary urination beyond the age when bladder control is expected. It can be nocturnal (nighttime), diurnal (daytime), or both. The condition can be primary (never achieved consistent dryness) or secondary (relapse after being dry). In our partner clinics in Beijing and Shanghai, we use a multidisciplinary approach involving pediatric urologists, nephrologists, and child psychologists to address both physical and emotional aspects.
Advanced Diagnostics in China
Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment. Our hospitals offer:
- Urinalysis: Checking for infections or diabetes.
- Urodynamic Studies: Assessing bladder function.
- Ultrasound: Evaluating the urinary tract.
- Voiding Diary: Tracking urination patterns.
Treatment Options
Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may involve behavioral therapy, medications, alarm systems, or an integrative approach combining Western medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to strengthen kidney function and bladder control.
- Behavioral Therapy: Establishing good voiding habits.
- Medications: Desmopressin for nighttime wetting.
- Alarm Systems: Conditioning for nighttime awareness.
- Integrative TCM: Herbs to strengthen kidney qi.
