Thyroid Tumor
Learn about symptoms, modern diagnostic methods, and advanced treatment protocols available in China's top medical centers.
Understanding Thyroid Tumor
Thyroid tumors are abnormal growths that develop in the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped organ located at the base of the neck. These tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Most thyroid nodules are benign, but proper evaluation is important to identify those that may be cancerous. Symptoms may include a visible lump in the neck, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing. In our partner clinics in Beijing and Shanghai, we use a multidisciplinary approach involving endocrinologists, oncologists, and surgeons to evaluate and treat thyroid tumors.
Advanced Diagnostics in China
Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment. Our hospitals offer:
- Thyroid Ultrasound: Assessing nodule characteristics.
- Fine Needle Aspiration: Biopsy for cytological analysis.
- Thyroid Function Tests: Checking hormone levels.
- Radioiodine Scanning: Evaluating nodule function.
Treatment Options
Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may involve monitoring, surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, or an integrative approach combining Western medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to support thyroid health and recovery.
- Active Surveillance: Monitoring small, benign nodules.
- Surgical Removal: Thyroidectomy for suspicious nodules.
- Radioactive Iodine: Treatment for differentiated thyroid cancer.
- Integrative TCM: Herbs to support thyroid function.
